The media overview in Drupal is a page that lists all the media items that have been added to your site. A media item is a piece of content that represents a file, such as an image, external media, or document.
On the media overview page, you can view the following information for each media item:
- Thumbnail - A thumbnail image of the media item.
- Title - The title of the media item.
- Type - The type of the media item, which indicates the type of file (file, image, video).
- Date created - The date and time when the media item was created.
- Date changed - The date and time when the media item was last modified.
- Published - Whether the media item is published or not.
- Author - The user who created the media item.
You can use the media overview page to manage your media items by performing tasks such as adding new media, editing existing media, publishing or unpublishing media, and deleting media. To perform these tasks, you will need to have the appropriate permissions.
Media allows for content to be changed out when needed quickly and easily without having to upload multiple copies of the same content and automatically updating all instances of the media across the site.
You can also use the Bulk operations dropdown menu on the media overview page to perform actions on multiple media items at once. Simply select the media items you want to affect, choose the appropriate action from the dropdown menu, and then click the Apply button.
